Summary: "excellent resource!!!"
this nolo book, divorce after 50, is very well written. it covers all of the most significant, most costly, or most frequent issues that divorcees face. it is an excellent resource and it is strongly recommended for men and women divorcing who are over 50, and, frankly, it is an excellent resource for even younger couples (ok, if i'd've come home with this book, my wife would've divorced me on the spot). but, it does get us to think about our assets, commitments, liabilities, how to title items, save for retirement, etc. i don't think that it introduced anything new for family lawyers. but, it is a very practical hands-on booklet for attorneys as well. i highly recommend this booklet for attorneys, couples divorcing, and, even for couples considering marriage (pre-nuptual agreements, etc.). i give it an "A-"!!!

Summary: "Informative"
I got this book for my mother, who is currently separated from my father. She is not planning on a divorce at this time, but they are estranged, and she wanted to be prepared should the need arise. My mother tells me that this book is very informative. Being a Nolo book, it's not only extensive, but easy to read, as well. It covers every topic relating to divorce, and even mentions legal separation, all with a special view to persons nearing retirement age or older. It tells you what types of divorces exist, what sort of things you need to be collecting (such as proof of infidelity or abuse) and it may even help you make the all-important decision of whether to get a divorce or a legal separation. It answered questions that my mother didn't know to ask!
Highly recommended if you are middle-aged and find yourself in a situation where divorce might be pending. Get it well in advance, so you can be fully prepared for what you'll go through.

Summary: "This book is NOT for already retired couples."
This book is pretty good. It's focus is on people that are over 50, but NOT yet retired. I am 69 and my wife is 70, so this book did not have much to contribute to us. It is good for "still working" persons over 50 years old.
